THE LOCAL

A running playlist that starts a little slow, picks up the pace quickly and ends at the local bar.

I always like to think of how I’m feeling at different stages of a run. That’s how I start making my playlists for running (or any playlist for activity). Then I find a song to match.

Starting off a run, I’m usually a little unmotivated. Most mornings, I reluctantly press play and go on my way. When I feel that way, Dispatch’s Letter to Lady J does the trick. At this point, you’re probably thinking, “WTF", I thought this was a running playlist!” If so, just give it a minute (literally). Now stop thinking. Let the music be the soundtrack to your run.

Bronze Radio Return takes the wheel & passes to some great rock bands before we take it down a notch and hear some… Bluegrass.

I break up my runs into two parts, so I often find a song that’s a little different to help me remember where I’m at in the run. Iron Horse’s cover of Modest Mouse is that song and a great one at that! So much better than the original (fight me)!

WATERS picks us back for the next set of songs. Greg Puciato has a heavy hitter that sounds like a B-Side from MBV’s Loveless to push us to the finish line where we find ourselves drinking non-alcoholic beer with Deer Tick.

Should be an interesting run. Cheers! 🍻
